The Clemson football team will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta this Saturday. Here’s an early look at Vegas odds for the match up.

Clemson football will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta this coming Saturday in the Tigers’ first ACC action of the season.

Georgia Tech, after defeating Alcorn State to open the season, has lost its last two games, one to USF and then to Pittsburgh last week.

Things aren’t going to get easier for the Yellow Jackets either, as they are without their starting B-back-and perhaps best player- KirVonte Benson, who suffered a season-ending injury a couple of weeks ago.

Tech was listed by many experts as a darkhorse team to win the ACC Coastal, but those thoughts have changed mightily, especially after the loss to Pitt.

Here’s a look at what Vegas is thinking about this match up.

Clemson Football Early Odds: Georgia Tech

The spread comes via our friends at OddsShark.com.

Opening Line: Georgia Tech +16.5

Initial Thoughts:

Overall, I think this is about right. Georgia Tech has a way of shortening games and that’s certainly what the Yellow Jackets will do in this game.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is the fact that Dabo Swinney is all about program building. That means that if the Tigers get up 14-0 quickly, you’re going to see a lot of substitution and swapping.

Instead of putting the hammer down and going up 30, 40 points, Swinney elects to play some guys with the program’s long-term success in mind. Sometimes, that leads to the game being a little closer than one would expect.

I won’t give my prediction out until later this week, but I still like this spread for Clemson. I would imagine that the vast majority of money comes in on the Tigers.

A score like 31-10 is certainly conceivable and that’s easily over that number. I think Brent Venables has that option figured out and the defense will be able to hold the Yellow Jackets at bay for the majority of the afternoon.
