The Clemson football quarterback competition has Tiger fans, media and coaches alike torn, at least in some aspects, as we head into the thick of fall camp.

The biggest conversations Clemson football fans are having about the Tigers in 2018 have to do with the quarterback position.

There’s a faction of Tiger fans that want to see Kelly Bryant start. There’s also a faction of Tiger fans that believe freshman Trevor Lawrence is the way to go. Others believe that both should see the field.

It’s clear, though, when looking at the comments of coaches, predictions from the media and thoughts from fans that Clemson football nation is torn, at least in some aspects.

The Quarterback Competition…

Let me clarify myself: The coaching staff isn’t torn on who should start or what they think about the quarterbacks.

The Clemson football coaching staff knows that they’re going to start Kelly Bryant. They are fully behind the returning senior. But, I think they are probably a bit torn on how they are going to get both Bryant and Lawrence on the field.

Even if Bryant is the starter, Lawrence isn’t going to sit the bench. The coaching staff has been clear that they are going to play both guys. I think the question they are asking themselves is “how?”

When will they incorporate each of these guys? How will they incorporate them?

It’s clear that there are differing opinions on the quarterbacks. I see the case both for Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence. As a matter of fact, I laid those cases out a couple of months ago. I know we all want to see the quarterback competition wrapped up with a pretty bow, but that’s just not going to happen.

Next. The one team that can beat Clemson in 2018. dark

The competition is going to continue throughout the season. Both Lawrence and Bryant will have the opportunity to earn playing time and I have a feeling that Tiger nation will remain torn on this issue for the remainder of the year.
