The Clemson football team did its official weigh-ins for the season Thursday afternoon. Here are some takeaways from the event.

Clemson football players weighed in to kickoff fall camp Thursday afternoon.

Each year, it’s interesting to see how the players progress and what the coaching staff is looking for out of them.

This season, there were several interesting numbers coming out of the weigh-ins.

Here are our takeaways as we head into the beginning of fall camp later this evening.

Clemson Football Weigh-Ins:

  • The Offensive Line is Huge

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but there is some really healthy weight on that Clemson offensive line.

Tremayne Anchrum went into fall camp listed as 290 and is now up to 306. Mitch Hyatt is up to 308 and Justin Falcinelli is up to 313 after weighing in at 305 a year ago.

Jackson Carman, who was 350, is now down to 338.

  • Quarterbacks look good

Kelly Bryant is up five pounds from a year ago at 225. Freshman Trevor Lawrence has put on about 10 pounds since getting on campus and is up to 216. Chase Brice, also a freshman, is listed at 216.

Weight-wise, Lawrence still has a little ways to go. 216 would seem like a good weight, but when you spread it out over a player that is 6-foot-6, you can see how there’s still room to grow. I think before he leaves Clemson, he’ll be playing at a healthy 230, if not more.

  • Tavien Feaster gets explosive step back

At the running backs, Travis Etienne is listed at 202, which is right about the same as he was last year. I would imagine that the coaches didn’t want much change from him.

Adam Choice is listed at 223 after being at just 210 a year ago. It will be interesting to see how that extra weight is able to help him running the ball between the tackles.

To me, though, the most interesting weight at the running backs is Tavien Feaster. Feaster bulked up last season, weighing in at 220. That weight slowed him down a step or two, though. So this season, the coaches tasked him with shedding it off to get that quick “first step” back. Feaster check in at 210, which is probably about the perfect weight for him.

  • The Defensive Line is Scary

This won’t come as a shock to anyone, but Clemson’s defensive line is really good. You can tell that just by looking at the weights.

Both Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell are up close to 10 pounds from last season. Christian Wilkins (303) and Dexter Lawrence (339) stayed right about the same.

Freshman KJ Henry increased his weight from 235 to 251.
