The 2019 Clemson football recruiting class picked up a huge commitment from 4-star linebacker Vonta Bentley Friday evening.
The 2019 Clemson football recruiting class picked up a special commitment Friday evening when 4-star linebacker Vonta Bentley announced his decision.
Bentley, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, had been a heavy Clemson lean for quite some time.
He made his decision and was able to bring a great amount of celebration to the All-In Cookout when he officially announced it to the coaching staff and to the fans.

What does it mean?
Vonta Bentley was the No. 1 remaining target in the 2019 recruiting class for Clemson football, according to our big board.
The Tigers were in need of another linebacker in this class as they look to replace a couple from this year’s team. It was clear that Bentley was at the top of their priority list.
When I look at his film, Bentley is the perfect blend of power and physicality at the linebacker position.
He’s a guy that, in my opinion, can come in and make an immediate impact in the special teams and work his way up into the two-deep. Who knows? He may be able to do more than that.
This will also help Clemson in the recruiting rankings, not that those matter. Bentley was ranked as the No. 11 overall player in the state of Alabama and the No. 12 overall inside linebacker by 247 sports.
The publication originally had him as a three-star, but has already moved him up to a four-star. Right now, he sits outside the top 200 for 247 sports, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him move in there before it’s all said and done.
Whatever rankings you look at, though, it’s clear that this was a much-needed “get” for Clemson. The Tigers are now more secure at the linebacker position and will look to go after a couple of other positions heavily for the rest of this fall and into the winter.
