6. Improved Skill Position Players

Speaking of not forgetting the running backs, you also shouldn’t forget the wide receivers.

Clemson has one of the best wide receiver groups heading into 2018.

The Tigers will be led by Tee Higgins, who is poised to be one of the best in the nation. In addition to Higgins are guys like Amari Rodgers, Hunter Renfrow, Diondre Overton, Justyn Ross, Trevion Thompson, Cornell Powell, and Derion Kendrick.

I really like this group.

The wide receivers, if Clemson can find a way to get them the ball, are going to be special. Higgins has the ability to beat any defensive back in one-on-one coverage. Rodgers and Kendrick have the ability to take a screen pass or a “jet sweep pass” to the house every time. Renfrow catches anything you put in his vicinity.

One of the reasons Clemson lost to Alabama last season was because the skill position players weren’t mature enough. This season, I think they are more than ready to take on the Crimson Tide defensive backs.

But, before we even get to Tigers vs. Tide Part IV, the Tigers have 12 games in which they should be able dominate the vast majority of defensive backfields.
