Today we continue our analysis of Clemson football’s freshman class. Let’s take a look at WR Derion Kendrick and his quest for playing time in 2018.

Throughout the spring and summer, we’ve taken a look at several freshman that could make an impact on the 2018 Clemson football season.

Among them we’ve analyzed include Xavier Thomas, Mike Jones Jr., Trevor Lawrence, KJ Henry and several others.

Today, we continue that analysis with a look at wide receiver Derion Kendrick.

An Explosive Athlete…

When I look at Derion Kendrick’s highlights and film, I see a special talent. I see a guy that didn’t come to the Clemson football program to sit on the sidelines for a year.

He proved that in the recent summer depth chart.

Kendrick is already listed as co-backup with Cornell Powell behind Amari Rodgers.

Why?

It’s pretty simple: His play-making ability.

Every single time that Derion Kendrick touches the ball, he could go for six. In my opinion, he’s one of the five most explosive guys on the 2018 roster.

Kendrick is just different and you’re going to see that this year.

He played quarterback in High School and absolutely just tore teams apart. I remember watching him play a very good Hartsville team in the Class 4A state championship game and he just ran all over them.

Kendrick finds the seams in the defense and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him used in the return game before it’s all said and done either. He will be a guy that you see Clemson throw that “jet sweep pass” to just to get him the ball.

You will see Kendrick early and often in 2018 and he will, without a doubt, make an impact this season.
