Former Clemson football player Da’Quan Bowers has returned to school. He will not only be finishing up his degree, but also helping coach the defensive ends.

Former Clemson football star Da’Quan Bowers will be joining the Tigers this fall, according to David Hood at Tigernet.com.

Bowers has been coaching defensive ends during Dabo Swinney’s football camp and he told Tigernet.com that he not only enrolled in school this summer looking to finish his degree, but that he will also help coach this coming season.

On The Right Path…

Da’Quan Bowers really emerged as a dominant defensive end his junior season at Clemson. Bowers earned All-American honors and was recognized as the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

He was considered a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, but because of medical issues, fell to the second round with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He had several injuries and suspensions that led to him being released, re-signed and then not picked up in 2015. He played in the CFL for a year before deciding to retire from football altogether in May of this year.

Bowers has made some mistakes in the past. There’s no denying, though, that he was a very talented football player.

I think he is on the right path and is looking to get his education and become a great mentor. He’ll be working under the leadership of Brent Venables, Todd Bates, and Dabo Swinney. I think he will fit in well into the Clemson football culture.

It’s also clear that Bowers will be a great asset to young guys like Xavier Thomas and KJ Henry. I think he will be able to provide insight from his career that will prove to be invaluable to them as they begin their college career.
