Clemson football fans have become enamored with a rising freshman quarterback. Will Trevor Lawrence start a game in the 2018 season for the Tigers?

The 2018 Clemson football season is less than 100 days from kickoff.

With that being said, we’ve got plenty of analysis to do before the Tigers take on the Furman Paladins in Death Valley in early September.

One of the biggest question marks surrounding the 2018 season is the quarterback position.

The Tigers return Kelly Bryant, who started all 14 games last season and led them to an ACC Championship and College Football Playoff berth. Even with Bryant returning, though, there has been some healthy competition in the spring heading into these summer months.

Why?

Because of freshman phenom Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence was named the High School Player of the Year and in the spring game proved why he was rated as the No. 1 player in the nation by many recruiting sites.

So, that begs the question: What will Lawrence’s role be in 2018?

A Good Problem to Have…

With the departure of Hunter Johnson, we all know that Trevor Lawrence will see the field.

I would say that most Clemson football fans expect him to see snaps in games that are meaningful. With that being said, though, will he start a game in 2018?

Will Trevor Lawrence at any point in 2018 be the No. 1 QB on the depth chart? Will he surpass Kelly Bryant?

The answer to that, in my opinion, will be left up to how Bryant performs on the field. If KB struggles, especially early, and Lawrence comes in and lights the world on fire, we could certainly see a switch at some point in the season.

If Bryant comes out and plays well and then Lawrence plays well, I think the depth chart could remain the same as it is right now.

Many Tiger fans believe that Lawrence will be the starter by the end of September. I’m not so sure either way.
