The 2018 Clemson football season is less than 100 days away. Here are the latest Vegas odds for the Tigers in their quest for a National Championship.

The 2017 Clemson football season ended in disappointment as the Tigers were eliminated from the College Football Playoff by the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tigers return the vast majority of last year’s team and bring in several new pieces to put together a team that is considered one of the best in the country.

Clemson’s main competition? Alabama.

For the fourth-straight season we could see a scenario where the Tigers and the Crimson Tide match up on the field for either a National Championship or a chance to go to the Natty.

Here are Vegas’s latest odds for teams and their chances of winning a National Championship in the 2018 season.

2018 Vegas Odds:

  • Alabama 9/4
  • Clemson 13/2
  • Ohio State 7/1
  • Georgia 7/1
  • Michigan 14/1
  • Penn State 18/1
  • Wisconsin 25/1
  • Oklahoma 25/1
  • Auburn 25/1
  • Miami 25/1
  • Washington 25/1
  • Florida State 28/1

The first thing I notice when I look at these odds is the huge gap between teams. It’s Alabama and Clemson and then Ohio State and Georgia. Then it’s everybody else.

Once you get past the Bulldog’s 7/1 odds, Michigan is next highest with 14/1.

Basically, Vegas is saying that the National Champion is going to be chose out of those first four teams. Anything else would be a long shot.

In my honest opinion, I don’t even see Michigan as the next most likely after Georgia. I think you’ve got to go with a team from either the Pac-12 or the Big 12. Right now, I just believe the ACC, SEC, and Big Ten are already booked with who their champion will most likely be.

If I were going to put a dark horse down to make the College Football Playoff- not necessarily win the whole thing- I would go with West Virginia. I think the Mountaineers have the talent to win the Big 12 and maybe qualify for that last spot in the playoff.

Right now, though, you have to believe that the National Champion will be chosen out of that field of four: Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia.

Until further notice, those are the teams to watch heading into the 2018 College Football season.
