Could basketball forward Elijah Thomas join the Clemson football team for a season? Stranger things certainly have happened before.
Elijah Thomas announced that he would be returning to school and didn’t even enter the NBA Draft this season.
Thomas, a talented forward for Clemson basketball, progressed well this past season and is expected to be one of the top forwards in the conference this coming season.
While Thomas certainly has a future in basketball somewhere, it’s clear that he still misses the days of being a multi-sport athlete.
Thomas took to Twitter last week to express his desire to play football again. The official Clemson football account replied to him with a picture of DeAndre “Nuk” Hopkins in his basketball uniform.
....I mean...🤷♂️

A Tight End/Power Forward?
This is all just dream talk, honestly. I don’t think Thomas truly has time to play both sports, especially with the success that he’s expected to have in basketball this season.
That being said, though, could you imagine a guy of Elijah Thomas’s caliber playing football? Thomas, a 6-9 237 pound athlete, would make the perfect tight end for a Clemson football team that is lacking a playmaker.
He has proven that he has a great vertical and can certainly play physical.
It would be fun to watch and would make a great story, nonetheless. While Thomas will most likely stick to one sport, it’d be fun to see him in a football uniform. I remember watching Nuk play basketball. He pretty much sat the bench, but when he did get in the game, Clemson nation went crazy.
That would be the same with Thomas and I’m not so sure that he couldn’t find a role on the 2018 football team.
Heck, maybe he could even get two rings before it’s all said and done?
