The Clemson football program isn’t finished recruiting within the state of Maryland, after landing 3-star defensive lineman, Tyquon Johnson. The Tigers appear to be the favorite for fellow Marylander, DeMarcco Hellams.

Clemson’s 2019 recruiting class is shaping up nicely roughly three months into the offseason. The Tigers class ranks fourth in the nation according to the 247sports team rankings.

After making their presence felt in states such as Florida and Georgia, the Tigers’ are cleaning up in the DMV.

DeMarcco Hellams

After landing commitments from Virginia native, Sheridan Jones and Maryland native, Tyquon Johnson, the Tigers are hot on the trail of 4-star athlete, DeMarcco Hellams.

It’s no secret that Clemson needs to replenish their depth in the secondary. They already hold commitments from three defensive backs and Hellams could soon be the fourth.

At 6-foot-1, 203 pounds, Hellams is a physically mature, versatile athlete. Playing for national powerhouse, DeMatha Catholic high school, Hellams is a force at both wide receiver and safety. It’s not clear yet what he intends to play on the collegiate level, but, he has the talent to make an impact on either side of the ball.

Clemson football currently holds all six of the crystal ball predictions for Hellams. While these do not guarantee a prospects interest, they are generally worth looking at, especially at this point in the cycle. With the summer camp circuit about to get under way and the season coming down the pike, the Tigers are in a great position to land Hellams.

Notable Prospects

Clemson is currently in a firm recruiting battle with Penn State for the services of 4-star Virginia athlete, Cam’Ron Kelly.

Be sure to keep an eye on the recruitment of 4-star linebacker, Vonta Bentley out of Alabama. The Tigers are the perceived leader in his recruitment, but, you can never count of Nick Saban and his staff on the trail.

Next: Don't forget about Justyn Ross

Last, but, certainly not least is 5-star corner back, Andrew Booth. At the moment Clemson appears to have the lead in his recruitment, but, with his impressive offer list, things could change at any moment.
