The Clemson football program has become one of the most prominent in the land. With the great amount of success the Tigers have had, there also comes hate.

Who would’ve thought a decade ago that Clemson football would be one of the top programs in the nation?

It’s great to look back and reminisce and think of how things were just a few years ago. I mean, do you remember wondering if Clemson would ever win the ACC Atlantic?

Do you remember when getting to the Peach Bowl was considered a dream finish for the Tigers? I remember in 2011 when Clemson won that ACC Title and thinking how far we had come even back then.

Now, if Clemson were to only win the ACC Championship, we’d think of that as a disappointment.

With that success, though, there also comes hate.

Among the most hated…

The Spun’s Andrew Holleran rated the 10 most hated College Football Programs in the nation recently.

Here’s a look at Holleran’s list:

  1. Alabama
  2. Notre Dame
  3. Ohio State
  4. Michigan
  5. Florida State
  6. Texas
  7. Texas A&M
  8. Penn State
  9. Oregon
  10. Clemson

Clemson, surprisingly enough, only checks in at No. 10. Holleran explains that the Tigers’ success have them on the list, but he also admits that it’s hard to pull against Dabo Swinney and the fun that Clemson has provided to the College Football world.

Now, I know that fans from the southeast, especially that team from Columbia and several others in the SEC/ACC, really dislike Clemson football, but I think the hate for the Tigers doesn’t really extend to the whole nation.

As a matter of fact, I think many College Football fans want to see Clemson have success because they’re tired of Alabama being on top. Right now, Clemson, Ohio State (and possibly Georgia) are the only programs that are really challenging Bama. I would tend to agree that plenty of people hate Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan after the Crimson Tide.

The only one that I’d probably disagree with is Oregon. I just don’t think Oregon is relevant enough to really hate. The same could almost be said about Texas, but the Longhorn program has more history than that of the Ducks.

I do think that Georgia is missing from this list.

What do you think, Clemson football fans? Comment below with the programs you hate most, maybe other than that program from Columbia.
