It was a major blow to the 2017 Clemson football team when kicker Greg Huegel went out with a torn ACL. Huegel is looking to return better than ever.
One of, if not, the biggest blow to the 2017 Clemson football team happened when kicker Greg Huegel suffered a torn ACL in practice.
While Huegel wasn’t the most accurate kicker in the nation, he did do a solid job and, unfortunately, the guys behind him just couldn’t get the job done.
Alex Spence progressed as the season went along and he did his best, but you never knew what to expect with him. He got a lot better and you could tell that his confidence rose quite a bit as we got into the thick of the season.
That being said, having Huegel back will be huge for Clemson football in 2018.
Practice makes perfect…
On Tuesday, Huegel drilled a 46-yard field goal, proving to all around that he has recovered from his injury and is ready to go.
Huegel made the kick in front of the entire team at the end of practice.
It seems that he still has a little ways to go before everything is 100 percent, but he did say it was good to get back out there and to kick in front of the team again.
I, personally, look forward to seeing the battle between Huegel and freshman BT Potter in the fall. I think the two will push each other to get better.
