Initial Thoughts, Analysis:
Those are just some of the notable seeds in Clemson’s region.
If the Tigers win on Friday, they will play the winner of Auburn-College of Charleston in the second round.
New Mexico State is a solid team that has played well all season. They are a team that can definitely give the Tigers fits.
Interestingly enough, I think it’s a doable road for Clemson basketball.
Going through Kansas will not be easy, but I definitely think Clemson has an advantage against both New Mexico State and Auburn.
If you win those two, then you are in the Sweet 16 and then who knows what will happen next.
Next: Clemson favored for two elite 2019 prospects
Bottom Line:
We will have more in-depth coverage heading into this game on Friday, but it’s clear that it will take Clemson having some solid guard play.
The Tigers will need Shelton Mitchell, Marcquise Reed, and Gabe DeVoe to rise to the occasion. If they can get the three-ball going, Clemson could go far in this tournament. However, if the offense looks similar to that of the end of the first half of the Virginia game, it could be a quick exit for the Tigers.
