Chase Brice (QB) Loganville, Georgia:

Coming out of high school Brice was overlooked due to Clemson also holding a commitment from 5-star quarterback, Hunter Johnson.

That being said, Brice was a blue-chip prospect in his own right.  As a senior, Brice lead national power, Grayson high school to a Georgia 7A state championship.

Strengths

I liken Brice to former Alabama quarterback, AJ McCarron due to their quiet command on the field. It took McCarron a good deal of time to get his due credit playing in the Tide’s loaded offense.

Similarly, Brice played with a plethora of major division one on the high school level. As such, his talent went overlooked at times. Make no mistake about it, Brice has complete ownership of his offense and that is apparent on film.

Rarely does he get flustered on the field, even when the play breaks down. I am also impressed with his quick, accurate release.

There are no glaring issues in Brice’s game, he is fundamentally sound and decisive with the football. He may not be an explosive athlete, but, he is mobile enough to escape the pocket and extend the play.

Expectations in 2018

The Clemson football program is absolutely loaded at the quarterback position entering 2018. The Tigers have two 5-star prospects in Hunter Johnson and Trevor Lawrence and two 4-star prospects in Brice and Kelly Bryant.

Bryant will likely open up the spring taking the lion’s share of the reps. That being said, I expect to the Tigers’ trio of youngsters to get a crack at the starting job.

Brice has his work cut out for him this off-season. Supplanting Bryant atop the depth chart will be especially difficult, given Johnson and Lawrence’s respective talent as well.
