Clemson football will take on Alabama tonight in the Superdome in New Orleans. Here’s what the ESPN College GameDay crew had to say about the matchup.

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s finally game day.

It’s not just any game day either, it’s New Years and we have a ton of games to unpack. The biggest of all the games features Clemson football in a matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl for a spot in the national championship game.

It’s going to be a late night as the game isn’t set to kickoff until 8:50 on ESPN.

On the other side of the College Football Playoff bracket, Georgia and Oklahoma will face off in the Rose Bowl, which is slated to start at 5 p.m. today.

Here’s what the ESPN College GameDay analysts predicted as the outcome of today’s two College Football Playoff games.

Rose Bowl: #2 Oklahoma vs. #3 Georgia

Desmond Howard: Georgia

Lee Corso: Oklahoma

Sugar Bowl: #1 Clemson vs. #4 Alabama

Desmond Howard: Clemson

Lee Corso: Alabama

Kirk Herbstreit: Clemson

Next: Q&A: Travis Etienne's road to the Superdome

Thoughts:

The picking went as expected, in my opinion. Both Herbstreit and Howard have been pretty high on Clemson football since this matchup was announced.
