The Clemson football team will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl on Monday. Here’s our pick against the spread for the match up.

It’s been nearly four weeks since we’ve seen Clemson football play a game.

The last time we saw the Tigers on the field, they were blasting the Miami Hurricanes in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte.

On the flip side, the last time we saw Alabama, they were getting handled by their in-state rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Many experts are picking the Crimson Tide to win this one, but here’s our pick against the spread for the game down in New Orleans.

Clemson Football Pick Against the Spread:

Current Spread: Alabama -3

Spread Prediction: The Tigers have been underdogs in each of their last seven postseason outings, starting back in 2012 against LSU in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Clemson is 6-1 straight-up in those match ups.

That being said, the Tigers tend to do well when they are the Vegas underdogs.

So, I’ll put my confidence and trust in Dabo Swinney.

I’m going to take the Tigers +3 to beat the Crimson Tide outright on New Year’s Day. I think most every position favors Clemson football. In the end, Swinney finds a way to come out on top and make it back to the national championship game.

Current Over/Under: 47

Over/Under Prediction: The matchups between Clemson and Alabama the last two year have gone “over.”

Both offense have scored 30+ in each of the games.

I think that probably changes this season. I expect a score similar to 24-17 or 27-17. I believe Bama will score a touchdown off of an explosive play at some point, but Clemson will hold them to less than 20.

I’ll take the “under” here as Clemson wins the game by a 7-14-point margin.
