The latest CFB Playoff rankings were released Tuesday evening and Clemson football came in at No. 3 behind Miami and Alabama. Here’s our thoughts.

Clemson football is ranked No. 3, according to the latest College Football Playoff poll that was released Tuesday evening.

The Tigers and the Miami Hurricanes flip-flopped after Clemson was No. 2 last week.

Here’s a look at the top-10 of the College Football Playoff poll:

  1. Alabama
  2. Miami
  3. Clemson
  4. Oklahoma
  5. Wisconsin
  6. Auburn
  7. Georgia
  8. Notre Dame
  9. Ohio State
  10. Penn State

Thoughts:

I know there are a lot of Clemson football fans that will be angry about dropping.

It doesn’t make too much sense to me either. Why the committee would move Miami ahead after losing to Virginia for the majority of the afternoon on Saturday is beyond me.

You would think that if that were the case and the two teams were so close that Miami would have been ranked No. 2 to begin with.

The truth is, however, that it doesn’t matter.

In just a week and a half, Clemson and Miami will match up in Charlotte for a College Football Playoff spot. Basically, it will be a winner-take-all game.

Clemson currently has two wins over top-25 opponents which include Auburn (6) and Virginia Tech (25). The Tigers will have a chance to pick up a third one this weekend with South Carolina, who is ranked No. 24.

Of course if the Gamecocks lose, they will fall back outside the top-25.

Overall, everything is going according to plan. The Tigers are in win-and-you’re-in mode. That’s a good place to be with just one regular season game and an ACC Championship remaining.
