The 2018 Clemson football recruiting class is setting up to be one of the best in history. Could the Tigers pick up a commitment from another 5-star?

The 2018 Clemson football recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best in school history.

Each of the commitments made a trip up to Tiger Town to see Clemson take on The Citadel last weekend.

With them was one of the top offensive linemen in the nation: 5-star offensive lineman Cade Mays.

Mays decommitted from Tennessee on November 7 after taking visits to Clemson (Oct. 28) and Georgia (Nov. 4).

Before the visit this weekend, Mays was a Georgia lean. As a matter of fact, many experts had Tennessee ahead of Clemson football recruiting to win his services.

247 sport’s Anna Hickey now has Mays as a Clemson lean after The Citadel visit.

Analysis:

I think Clemson is the favorite to win the services of Cade Mays. He really enjoyed his time in Tiger Town this weekend and got to meet with all of the Clemson football recruiting commits, as well.

Unfortunately, Mays still has visits to Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Georgia in late-November and December scheduled.

That means we’re most likely nowhere near him making a decision.

At this point, Clemson has done everything they really can do. They showed him what it would be like in Tiger Town and what Clemson family really means.

If Clemson was to gain a commitment from Mays, I think that would be the best offensive line commit the Tigers would have picked up since Mitch Hyatt a few years ago. He has really good footwork and is very physical.

Next: How many pushups did the Clemson mascot do Saturday?

I’d love to see him in orange and purple and right now, at least, it looks like there’s a fairly good chance that will happen.
