The 2018 Clemson football recruiting class is setting up to be one of the best in school history. Could a 5-star defensive end be added to the mix?

Clemson football recruiting continues to be one of the best in the nation.

The Tigers have already garnered verbal commitments from 5-star quarterback Trevor Lawrence and 5-star defensive end Xavier Thomas.

Clemson also has commitments from several highly-touted 4-stars, as well.

Could 5-star defensive end KJ Henry be the next big commit to join the 2018 Clemson football recruiting class?

Henry had a great official visit at Virginia Tech last week as the Hokies defeated North Carolina 59-7.

This weekend, Henry plans to visit Clemson to see the Tigers take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Henry also has an official visit planned to visit South Carolina when the Gamecocks face Florida on November 11.

Analysis:

By all accounts, Clemson football recruiting leads for Henry’s services. It was said that he had a great trip up in Blacksburg.

Right now, however, it seems to be between Clemson and Georgia.

Henry visited Athens back in September and had a great time as well, but I think coming to Clemson this weekend will seal the deal. He will be in town during an 8 p.m. ABC kickoff.

Death Valley will be rocking and that makes a difference.

Overall, I’d expect the Tigers to get a commitment from Henry here in the next few months. He’s going to take his visits and enjoy the recruiting process, but it seems that Clemson is certainly the favorite right now.

Getting Henry would be huge for the Tigers. He is athletic, strong, and quick off the ball. He’s just about everything you’d want in a defensive end and I believe he’d be able to come in and compete for playing time right away as a pass-rusher.
