Nothing holds weight on the recruiting trail like a National Championship. As such, the Clemson football program has more reach than ever before. The Tigers are gaining momentum in the recruitment of 4-star 2018 wide receiver, Justyn Ross.

From the moment he took over the program, Dabo Swinney has been a phenomenal recruiter. He also padded his staff with good recruiters. That much has never changed.

The difference between Swinney’s early years and now, is perception. When the Tigers’ signed Tony Steward — the No. 13 player in the country in the 2011 recruiting class — it was seen as an anomaly. Steward was a “steal” for Clemson considering the state of the program at the time.

Now, Clemson routinely signs high 4-star and 5-star prospects from states across the country.

4-star WR Justyn Ross

Clemson football has been trending up in the recruitment of Justyn Ross dating back to early September. Not only is Ross an elite receiver with a rare blend of size and speed, but, he is from the state of Alabama. Both Auburn and Alabama have been hard at work trying to keep Ross within the state, but, the Tigers have received the last seven crystal ball predictions for Ross.

Landing Ross would be huge for Clemson considering they may lose Deon Cain to the NFL draft at seasons end. Ross would also give 5-star quarterback, Trevor Lawrence yet another weapon. The most exciting prospect would be pairing the explosive Alabama native with 2017 signee, Tee Higgins.

Both Higgins and Ross are big-bodied receivers who can flat-out go get it. Their speed and explosiveness are scary given their length. With Ross in the fold, Clemson would have three wide receivers standing at least 6-foot-4. Opposing defenses would have nightmares trying to stop this Tigers’ passing attack.

The battle for Ross is far from over for Clemson. Alabama and Auburn won’t go down without a fight for a prospect of his talent.
