The 2018 Clemson football recruiting class is still lacking a running back commit. Could 4-star Tennessee decommit Lyn-J Dixon be the answer?

2018 4-star running back Lyn-J Dixon decommitted from Tennessee last week and has Clemson football high on his list of possible candidates.

Dixon is starting the recruiting process over and hasn’t planned any visits as of yet.

He is still considering Tennessee, as well as Alabama, Clemson, Louisville, Florida and possibly a couple of other schools.

Analysis:

Lyn-J Dixon is the definition of an all-purpose running back. Dixon has the ability to run between the tackles, make plays in space, and catch the ball out of the backfield.

He’s the type of guy that, in my opinion, can come into a program and make  an impact early.

Dixon is very athletic and has great vision. He uses that jump-cut to his advantage and I really like what I see from him running routes.

I don’t believe he has much experience with pass-blocking. The Clemson football staff really values that in a running back, but it certainly wouldn’t impede them from taking him.

The Tigers didn’t offer Dixon until after running back target Zamir White committed to Georgia and, by then of course, he had already committed to Tennessee.

As of right now, I’d think that Alabama is the favorite to win his services, but really Dixon is about as open as a recruit can be. The day he decommitted from Tennessee (October 14), he visited Tuscaloosa.

Next: Could Clemson have a new kicker?

I’d expect Clemson football to push hard to get him on campus soon. The Tigers are in need of a running back and Dixon would certainly be a great get for them.
