The 2018 Clemson football recruiting class is already one of the strongest in school history. Could the Tigers land a top-flight LSU decommitment?

The 2018 Clemson football recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best ever under Dabo Swinney.

The Tigers already have commitments from 5-stars DE Xavier Thomas and QB Trevor Lawrence, as well as a plethora of 4-star guys.

Both Thomas and Lawrence continue to recruit other guys to join Clemson as well.

Thomas, in particular, has reached out to a ton of top prospects and has taken it upon himself to help the Clemson football coaching staff make this a class to remember.

Today, Clemson football recruiting received some more good news.

5-star defensive back Kelvin Joseph announced on Monday that he would be reopening his recruitment and decommitting from LSU.

Joseph committed to LSU back in February of 2016. He received several offers from schools over the past couple of years and Clemson offered on April 18, 2017.

It has been said that ever since Clemson football recruiting offered him back in April, he has been interested in Tiger Town.

He will officially visit Clemson on November 11th when the Tigers take on Florida State.

The decommitment comes on the heels of LSU being upset at home against Troy.

Analysis:

Right now, I would still tend to believe that he leans LSU. In his Twitter post, he said as much, but it seems that he will consider both Alabama and Clemson at this point.

Joseph is a physical defensive back with great speed.

He is also a talented punt returner. The Tigers could certainly use a guy of his skill and athleticism, especially in that defensive backfield which will lose a few corners after the end of this season.

As far as crystal ball predictions go, I think it will come down to LSU and Clemson.

His visit on November 11th will be huge for Clemson football. I’d expect his decision to come down to National Signing Day. He may make a decision at the end of the year, but I wouldn’t be surprised for him to prolong this process and continue to consider the schools pursuing him.
