Week four of the 2017 College Football season offers an interesting spread of potential upsets. This makes picking against the spread tricky. You don’t want to fall in love with an underdog and get burned. Here’s my picks against the spread this week.

After watching Stanford drop back-to-back games to San Diego State and USC, it’s becoming more clear that their win over Rice in week one was fools gold. The Cardinal may be on their way to another rough season under David Shaw.

Texas on the other hand, is trending in the right direction following their overtime loss to USC. The Longhorns showed the grit and physicality that was lacking in their week one matchup with Maryland.

Here are the College Football picks against the spread for week four. All of the current odds are provided by SportsBookReview.com.

#23 Utah vs. Arizona:

Current Spread: -3 Utah

Spread prediction: Arizona comes into this matchup 2-1, however, their two wins came against undermanned group of five programs. Utah, led by electric signal caller Tyler Huntely, will be too much for the Wildcats to handle. Houston defeated Arizona 19-16 in their week two matchup. I expect Utah to cover the spread at the least.

#12 Florida State vs. NC State:

Current Spread: +15 NC State

Spread prediction: While I do believe Florida State will defeat NC State, I’m not expecting it to be a 15-point blowout. The Seminoles feature a suspect offensive line and a first-time starter at quarterback. Those two ingredients won’t mix well with NC State’s talented defensive line.

UCF vs. Maryland:

More from Rubbing the Rock

Current Spread: -5 Maryland

Spread prediction: UCF features one of the most exciting offenses in the country under head coach Scott Frost. That high-powered attack won’t be enough to come within five points of Maryland. The Terrapins are much improved from a season ago, especially at quarterback. This is the Knights first real test and it will be on the road in College Park, which spells trouble.

#17 Mississippi State vs. #11 Georgia:

Current Spread: +3 Mississippi State

Spread prediction: Not only will Mississippi State cover the spread, they will defeat Georgia all-together. The Bulldogs bulldozed their way to a 37-7 victory over LSU a week ago, displaying a tenacious defense. I expect them to get after true freshman, Jake Fromm and this Georgia offense. On the flip side of the ball, Nick Fitzgerald will give Kirby Smart and company fits with his versatility.
