The Clemson football coaching staff has been busy on the recruiting trail since the beginning of the spring evaluation period. Today I will be breaking down the offer of 2019 offensive tackle, Michael Tarquin.

The Tigers coaching staff is at it once again in the sunny state of Florida. Michael Tarquin is one of the elite prospects in the 2019 class already. He should be a priority recruit for the Tigers in the next recruiting cycle.

Strengths:

Tarquin is one of the top offensive tackles in the 2019 recruiting class. At the young age of 15, Tarquin already stands 6-foot-5, 290 pounds. It’s safe to say he still has some growing to do. Aside from his height, Tarquin has phenomenal feet. He is able to stay in front of explosive edge rushers with relative ease. He does not shy away from contact either.

  • Footwork
  • Athleticism
  • Power

Weaknesses:

There are not many glaring holes in Tarquin’s game. If I’m nitpicking, I’d say he needs to work on getting more depth in his kick slide and keeping his shoulders square as long as possible. Other than that, Tarquin just needs to continue to work on his strength and develop his game as much as possible.

  • Needs to develop his kick slide
  • Pad level in run game

Outlook:

As I previously stated, Michael Tarquin is already an elite offensive tackle prospect. There are few men his size that can move like he does or have the feet that he does. Clemson better buckle in because his recruitment will likely feature many of college football’s heavy weights, from Ohio State to Alabama.

The last tackle prospect of Tarquin’s ability Clemson was able to sign was Mitch Hyatt out of the state of Georgia. We see how that worked out. Hyatt has been a mainstay on Clemson’s offensive line from the day he stepped foot on campus. Tarquin has the natural ability to do the same during his college career.
