The Clemson Tigers finished up spring practice yesterday afternoon with their annual Orange and White game. Ray Ray McCloud was impressive during the scrimmage, showing that he has come into his own mentally and physically.

Ray-Ray McCloud was a four-star prospect coming out of Sickles high school in Tampa, Florida. Through this point in his career McCloud has shown flashes of his promise, however, he has yet to consistently play at a high level.

Throughout this spring and during the spring game yesterday, McCloud has proven that he has taken the next step in his development. In an interview with Dan Hope of Independent Mail earlier in the spring, co-offensive coordinator, Jeff Scott said the following of McCloud, “His focus has been really good, his work ethic has been really good, he’s been one of the most consistent players on the offense.”

Andrea Anderson of ESPN reported that McCloud has committed more time to the weight room this offseason as well.

McCloud’s improvement was on full display yesterday as he impacted the game on the ground, through the air and on special teams. Early on in the game, McCloud received a reverse which he took for a 32 yard gain. Throughout the game, McCloud was able to turn in solid kick returns and he fielded each punt return with no problems.

Hopefully Ray-Ray McCloud will continue to progress during the summer months. The Tigers are going to lean on him and Deon Cain to replace playmakers such as Mike Williams and Artavis Scott.
