Building a sound offensive line is one of the primary efforts of every NFL staff. The quality and depth that you have up front directly effects the success that you will have as a team. Take the Dallas Cowboys for instance, who went from irrelevant to a playoff contender with rookies starting at quarterback and running back. While Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott were outstanding as rookies, without that dominant offensive line the Cowboys would have won nowhere near the amount of games that they did.

Best Attributes:

Jay Guillermo’s best attribute is his size. There are not many 6’3 centers at any level. Guillermo is also a strong leader, whom anchored Clemson’s offensive line for the past three seasons.

The Clemson Tigers have been one of the best programs in the nation in pass protection over the past three seasons, allowing on average 21.6 sacks per year over that span of time.

Expectations:

Jay Guillermo was not invited to the combine, however, he will conduct a pro day at Clemson, which will give scouts a chance to see him up close and personal. I doubt that Guillermo goes within the first three rounds of the NFL draft, honestly it would not shock me if he fell out of the draft all together. That being said, Guillermo has the requisite toughness and football IQ to earn his keep in the NFL.

It is not the end of the road for Guillermo if he is not drafted, if anything it helps him, because he will become an undrafted free agent. Becoming an undrafted free agent allows Guillermo to choose which franchise he plays for. Guillermo could step into an experienced team and bolster their depth along the offensive line from day one.
