LaSamuel Davis (DE) Bamberg, South Carolina:

LaSamuel Davis is from the same hometown as former Clemson Tigers, Ricky Sapp and Da’Quan Bowers. Coming out of high school Davis was a three-star prospect who held offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, and Georgia, among many others. 247sports had Davis ranked as the 53rd defensive end prospect in the country and the 1091 overall prospect in the country in the class of 2016.

Best Attributes:

LaSamuel Davis may have been less heralded than some of the other members of Clemson’s 2016 recruiting class, however, he is more talented than his ranking would suggest. Davis is far from a finished product for Clemson, mainly because he came in at 6’4, 215 pounds. That being said, Davis has an elite burst for a defensive lineman. In high school Davis played wide receiver as well, which speaks to his athletic ability.

Clemson did their due diligence with LaSamuel Davis. He may be a project, however, down the road he could be special. You can not teach people to run and bend the way that Davis can.

Expectations:

The Clemson football program has a well documented history of defensive lineman. The Tigers string of dominant d-lineman is not going anywhere any time soon. Clemson brings back one of the most talented and deep defensive line rotation’s in the country in 2017. For that reason, I do not expect LaSamuel Davis to see many snaps next fall. Davis will have an opportunity to continue to build upon his lanky frame and learn from guys like Clelin Ferrell and Austin Bryant.
