My Sluggo Podcast partner answered first and that’s a surprise because he’s never first for anything except pizza, but I decided to include it because it was seconded right away.

The game was played on September 29, 2001 in  Atlanta, the play referenced can be seen here and the Tigers ended winning in OT and you can hear Jim Phillips call it here.

Here’s a condensed version of the entire game.

It was a wild and crazy affair, especially after the 2000 debacle vs. Tech in Death Valley that ended the Tigers incredible 8-0 start.

Woody Dantzler threw for 254 yards, which was a lot back in the day and ran for 164 more with 2 touchdowns through the air and two on the ground.

Derrick Hamilton hauled in 7 passes for 75 yards and seldom used Matt Bailey hauled in a 55 yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter that put the Tigers up 21-19 and back and forth they went until Dantzler finally ended it in OT.

Needless to say the Treadwell years were mentioned often, including the 1987 classic.

What memories there are from these games for Clemson and Georgia fans alike.

Treadwell, of course, won games with field goals against the Dogs two straight seasons which put him in a category unlike any other kicker in Clemson football history.
