Clemson football: 3 things the offense needed to accomplish on the bye week
Three things we need to see from the Clemson football offense on the bye week
3. Added focus on getting DJ Uiagalelei and the WRs on the same page
We’ve already talked about what the Tigers need to do with the offensive line, but the next personnel focus needs to be with DJ Uiagalelei and the wide receivers.
Uiagalelei has been inaccurate on a lot of his throws and he doesn’t do a great job of stepping into the pocket or throwing in the face of pressure. When looking at his game, honestly, it’s been a guaranteed incompletion almost every time when he scrambles out of the pocket and is throwing on the run.
So, yes those things need to be addressed.
But, even more so, the relationship and chemistry between Uiagalelei and his wide receivers needs to be addressed. It doesn’t help a struggling quarterback at all when receivers drop passes that should easily be catches and, frankly, that has happened in every single game this season.
Both Uiagalelei and the wide receivers need a clean slate and they need to get to a place where they can trust each other and they are having fun again.
If this offense is going to improve, the chemistry and disconnect between Uiagalelei and the wide receivers is going to have to be addressed and what better week to do it than the open date?
