Five Clemson football players we’ll finally get to see showcased vs. S.C. State

3. D.J. Uiagalelei

I know what you’re thinking: We got to see D.J. Uiagalelei on full display last Saturday and it wasn’t a fun sight.

Uiagalelei in his third career start completed 19-of-37 passes for 178 yards and one interception against UGA, posting an abysmal 36.7 QB rating.

But, let’s not pretend that he was given any favors.

UGA had an elite pass-rush that beat the Tigers up-front. We heard of wide receivers running the wrong routes and there were plenty of questionable decisions from Tony Elliott that certainly didn’t help the sophomore find a groove.

He’s now had a week to process that performance and something tells us Uiagalelei is going to come out with a chip on his shoulder looking to prove to the world that he is more than capable of being the next elite QB and face of the Clemson football program.

We expect that the Tigers will play him a little later into the game than normal as a way to develop chemistry and timing, and the result will allow Clemson fans an opportunity to see a more confident and poised product leading their offense compared to that of last week’s.
