Trevor Lawrence: 5 things he’ll always be remembered for
2. Putting the team first despite his stardom
How many guaranteed first-rounders have we seen basically cruise through their junior season? We saw handfuls of guys choose to sit out the 2020 season and it would’ve made absolute sense for Lawrence to not risk his health just a year out from him earning millions of dollars.
But he didn’t. He put his team first and that’s why he wanted to play. Even when the Ohio State matchup was out of reach, Lawrence remained in the game and took some major shots as he battled to the end.
Why? Because he loved Clemson, he loved his coaches and he loved his teammates.
But it wasn’t just that.
Look at how Lawrence handled the media. It would’ve been really easy for him to talk about himself or his future in the NFL, but he always directed discussions back to the team. When he had success, he gave credit to everyone but himself. When he had failures- though there were only two losses- he took complete responsibility.
This is a guy who has known since high school that he was likely to be a No. 1 overall pick and, yet, his humility and poised demeanor is what we’ll all remember most about him.
