Remaining 5-star targets in the 2021 Clemson football recruiting cycle

The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings, and the Tigers already have some extremely talented commitments in the cycle.

That being said, there are still a few positions left to fill and the coaching staff is keying in on several prospects down the stretch.

But what about the ‘big ones?’ The 5-stars.

There are currently three 5-stars who are still being targeted by Clemson football. It should be noted that 4-star CB Nyland Green- who is trending to the Tigers- could very well become a composite 5-star very soon.

With that being said, here’s a look at the three 5-star targets remaining in the 2021 recruiting cycle and the chance of Clemson football landing any of them.

5-star DE Korey Foreman

  • Height: 6-foot-4
  • Weight: 265 pounds
  • Hometown: Corona, California
  • Rankings: No. 1 player nationally; No. 1 player in CA; No. 1 DE in the nation.

Korey Foreman was committed to Clemson football at one time and he recently reiterated that the Tigers are still in the running for his services.

That being said, it’s certainly not the likely outcome at the moment.

Foreman is still in the midst of enjoying his recruitment and he is scheduled to take a visit to LSU this weekend. He has visited Georgia and it seems that the Bulldogs have emerged as the potential favorite.

In addition to UGA and LSU, his home state school of Southern Cal remains heavily involved and many consider the Trojans to be the favorite. No matter how you look at it, it seems that LSU, Georgia and USC are all a step above Clemson and I wouldn’t hold my breath on him re-committing to the Tigers. It should be noted that Clemson has already filled its number at defensive end for the cycle, as well.

5-star OT Nolan Rucci

  • Height: 6-foot-8
  • Weight: 295 pounds
  • Hometown: Lititz, Pennsylvania
  • Rankings: No. 14 player nationally; No. 5 OT in the nation; No. 1 player in Pennsylvania

Nolan Rucci will announce his decision this coming Tuesday and it seems that the Tigers have fallen behind in terms of the race to garner his commitment.

The Wisconsin Badgers are considered the favorites to win his services and he’s also considering other schools like Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State.

Clemson was considered heavily involved earlier on in his recruitment, but is now likely considered third in terms of favorites behind the Badgers and Nittany Lions.

5-star OT Tristan Leigh

  • Height: 6-foot-5
  • Weight: 270 pounds
  • Hometown: Fairfax, Virginia
  • Ranking: No. 11 player nationally; No. 4 OT in the nation; No. 1 player in Virginia

Clemson was considered the favorite to win the services of Tristan Leigh just a few months ago, as well, but that has changed as we’ve progressed down the stretch.

Leigh is now considered an LSU lean and one of the telling signs of that is the fact that Clemson 247 Reporter Anna Hickey put in a crystal ball for LSU just a little less than a month ago.

While the Tigers aren’t out of his recruitment, time is of the essence and it’s clear that Clemson football has been hurt by not being able to get him back on campus.

While the Tigers would certainly like to have any of these three 5-stars, it’s clear that they are satisfied with their recruiting class overall and they believe in the prospects they’ve already garnered commitments from- many of which are 5-stars in their own respect.
