Clemson football held its first scrimmage of the 2020 preseason Saturday.

Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney put college football on notice with just one sentence after today’s scrimmage took place.

"“Probably better than advertised”"

This is what Coach Swinney had to say about freshman defensive tackle Bryan Bresee after the scrimmage. If you have paid attention to Coach Swinney over the years, while he is always complimentary of his players, he does not make them out to be something that they are not.

Go back just a year ago to Tyler Davis.

Throughout fall camp, then-freshman Tyler Davis was much better than advertised and was among the best performers in camp and while Coach Swinney noted Davis would not back down from anyone, he was very reserved when talking about the freshman defensive tackle.

No one knew that Davis would start game one as a true freshman at defensive tackle until his name and face appeared on the jumbotron pregame. This was something that neither William Perry, Christian Wilkins, nor Dexter Lawrence was able to do.

Byran Bresee has the ability to be the best Clemson football defensive tackle, ever.

Fast forward a year later, Bryan Bresee could follow in Tyler Davis’ footsteps and start as a true freshman. That means he would have beaten out fifth-year senior Nyles Pinckney, redshirt sophomore Darnell Jeffries, and redshirt junior Jordan Williams.

We have all seen the videos from Bresee tossing five-star high school offensive lineman like they were nothing over the last two years. We have all seen the pictures of the 6’5 300 pound Bresee from both spring practice and fall practice and he is a sight to behold.

While Clemson football has had its fair share of ridiculous defensive tackles over the last decade – Grady Jarrett, D.J. Reader, Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence just to name a few – Bryan Bresee could be the best of them all.

Next. Mike Jones Jr. has a giant hole to fill. dark

While there is a long way to go before the season kicks off, Saturday’s scrimmage gave us a look into the future of Clemson football and the best is truly yet to come.
