Five things we’d gladly tolerate if it meant we got to see Clemson football

The 2020 Clemson football season is scheduled to kick off in a little over a month, but there are still tons of questions as to how, when and if the season will truly be conducted.

The Tigers are in the midst of going through workouts and preparing for the start of the season, but there are more questions than answers as we trek towards the fall.

The MLB just had two teams cancel games amid the pandemic due to positive tests and there’s more scrutiny than ever that a College Football season seems more like a pipe dream at this point than anything else.

Still, if we somehow were to be able to see Clemson football take the field in 2020, here are five things we would gladly tolerate as a result.

5. SEC propaganda

Oh, to get back to the good ole days.

Do you remember when the most infuriating piece of news was some SEC Analyst taking a shot at Clemson football or trying to prop up the ‘almighty’ SEC?

If we do see a season, we’ll have plenty of analysts who talk about the power of the SEC and that may be aggravating, but we’ll give it a one-time pass at this point. To be able to argue about Clemson in other conferences and the fact that the Tigers are just better than the rest of the nation, and that programs shouldn’t find their identity in a conference, but rather themselves and what they’re able to do. Oh, that would be awesome.

4. Hearing the same song on ESPN week-after-week

This isn’t a shot at Imagine Dragons, but we’d gladly listen Imagine Dragons on loop week-after-week for highlight packages from ESPN on all the big games if it meant there was College Football.

As annoying as it can be to hear the same song over-and-over-and-over again until it is played out, we’d gladly take that to have a College Football.

Would it be a major sacrifice? Some would say.

But it would be worth it in the end.

3. Tony Elliott’s play-calling

Perhaps the thing Clemson football fans complain about the most during games- and it’s been this way for years- is the offensive play-calling.

Does this sound/look familiar:

  • RUN. THE. BALL.
  • THE MIDDLE IS OPEN
  • See? When we run the ball, it works.
  • I wish we would open things up a bit and take some shots down the field.

Look, this isn’t a shot at Tony Elliott, but Clemson football fans across the board have had their disagreements and complaints about the play-calling at times.

But we’d gladly put up with the Tigers completely ignoring Travis Etienne, not taking advantage of the middle of the field, or taking enough shots down the field, if it meant we would see football.

2. Hearing how ‘overrated’ Clemson is

Now, back to the media again.

It’s not good enough that we have to hear the SEC propaganda, analysts and fans across the country have to take shots at Clemson, in particularly.

The Tigers have been atop the mountain for quite some time now and there’s a bit of jealousy and envy that comes along with that.

We would gladly take people talking about how ‘Clemson doesn’t play anybody’ and how ‘Clemson would be destroyed in the *insert conference name here*’ or how the Tigers ‘have an advantage in the CFB Playoff because of their weak schedule.* We will tolerate that talk all day and night long if it means there’s a season, no matter how silly it may sound.

1. The dreaded ‘Woo-Hoo’

The worst tradition in Clemson football history is the dreaded ‘Woo-Hoo.’

You know what I’m talking about. We get to the portion in Tiger Rag where we’re about to spell out ‘Clemson‘ and what happens right before? WOO-HOO, WOO-HOO HOO HOO.

While honestly, we may not have to worry about this anyway because fans may not be allowed, we will gladly tolerate and even endorse the ‘Woo-Hoo’ if that means a season happens.

It’s a huge sacrifice and one that comes at a cost, but it’s something we’d be willing to make.
