Clemson Football: 35 Greatest Tigers of the Dabo Swinney Era
5. Sammy Watkins
Sammy Watkins is considered by many to be the most explosive play-maker in program history, and there’s certainly a good argument to be made for that.
Watkins exploded onto the scene during his freshman season, helping vault the Tigers to wins over Auburn and- especially- against Florida State in back-to-back weeks.
He would go on to become the Tigers’ all-time receiving leader with 3,391 yards in just three seasons.
Watkins was a three-time All-American and was the first freshman in ACC history to be named a first-team All-American.
