One of the most interesting questions as we head into the offseason for Clemson football is the response from QB Trevor Lawrence.

Trevor Lawrence played what most would consider the worst game of his Clemson football career Monday night against the LSU Tigers.

Lawrence completed just 18-of-37 attempts, didn’t have a passing touchdown and came away with a QB rating of just 38.1.

Now, as we head into the offseason, Lawrence is going to have to hear all this outside noise about how ‘he’s a bust,’ ‘he has serious problems,’ and how ‘he shouldn’t be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.’

I have a feeling that’s not going to bother him one bit.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Trevor Lawrence over the course of his Clemson football career, it’s the fact that he bounces back from adversity. Much like Deshaun Watson, Lawrence doesn’t stay down long.

Instead, he works to fix mistakes and comes back better as a result. We don’t think the 2020 season will be any different.

As we head into the spring, and especially into the summer, we’re going to hear national analysts question Trevor Lawrence. We’re going to hear them talk about how he overthrew his wide receivers on the biggest stage of them all and how his mechanics looked off, etc.

All the while, Lawrence is going to be working to get better.

If you have any doubt about Trevor Lawrence, that’s going to be answered in about seven and a half months from now. It’s a long time to wait, but there’s no question in my mind that Lawrence will respond from adversity and come out with a major chip on his shoulder as we approach the 2020 season.

The Clemson football program will be on its revenge tour during 2020 and I think that bodes well for Lawrence as he attempts to accomplish some major feats during his final season as the starting QB for the Tigers.
