What will Clemson football fans be doing during the bye week 2019? Here’s a look at five things hardcore Tiger fans will be doing.

There’s typically only one bye week a year for Clemson football fans, but this year there are two.

That means that over the course of the 2019 Clemson football season, there are three Saturdays without any Tiger football. The first one occurred back in August when the Tigers played on a Thursday night against Georgia Tech to open up the season. That left Clemson football fans with a free Saturday over Labor Day Weekend.

The next two will occur over the course of the season. The first one is this Saturday where the Tigers have an ‘Open’ date before Florida State comes to town. The second one will be Saturday, Nov. 23- the week before Clemson takes on in-state rival South Carolina.

Bye weeks can be grueling to get through.

It’s just not the same when there’s tailgate to be had or grill to fire up. Tiger fans are used to driving in traffic, waking up early to tailgate and spending a nice Saturday in Death Valley with more than 80,000 people. When all of that is taken away, Saturday can just feel empty.

So, how does a hardcore Clemson fan spend a bye week? Here are five things you’ll see hardcore Tiger fans doing this week without any Clemson football to be enjoyed.

5. Check off the To-Do List

The first thing we’ll see Clemson football fans doing is getting that “Honey Do” list done. The yardwork that you’ve neglected. The shed that needs to be painted. That room that needs to be organized. Those decorations that need to be put up or put out.

All of that falls on the bye week.

Hardcore Clemson fans aren’t going to wait and have that stuff pile up on a football Saturday. Instead, they’ll spend the week and the weekend of the Open Date getting it all done.

What happens if you don’t get it all done? Well, there’s always November when the second bye week comes around.

4. Overreact to ‘hot takes’

It wouldn’t be a bye week without Clemson football fans overreacting to hot takes.

With no football to be played on the field, Tiger fans will be forced to read some of the same nonsensical posts over and over and over again. You’ll hear National Analysts talk about how Clemson doesn’t deserve to be in the top-four.

You’ll hear ‘hot takes’ about how Florida State will upset Clemson. (Trust me, they’re coming).

Have fun, there’s nothing for analysts to really talk about, so they’ll resort to whatever measures necessary to keep the fanbase interacting.

3. Stress-free College Football

Now, here’s a fun one.

The bye weeks present a unique opportunity for Clemson fans to watch stress-free College Football. You have an opportunity this Saturday- if you get that To-Do list done- to sit down and watch College Football without having to stress about the outcome. Though there aren’t too many high-profile games, there are some that present intrigue.

  • #14 Iowa at #19 Michigan
  • #21 Oklahoma State at Texas Tech
  • #7 Auburn at #10 Florida
  • North Carolina at Georgia Tech
  • #25 Michigan State at #4 Ohio State
  • Pittsburgh at Duke

There’s no reason to yell at the television. Who cares if the referee missed the call? You’re just there to enjoy the pageantry and excitement that is College Football.

2. Family Trip & Events

Hardcore Clemson football fans look at the schedule months in advance and plan their trips and family events accordingly.

This is the week to have your fall wedding. This is the week to take the family out of town or to have that family reunion.

Life can’t always be planned around the Tigers, but hardcore fans will do whatever they can to make things work between the two to avoid missing as much football as possible.

1. Get caught up on film

Of course, hardcore Clemson fans will still be watching the Tigers this week in some form or fashion.

Expect to see the hardcore fans watching film. They’ll be breaking down that UNC game in which the Tigers almost came away with a loss. They’ll look back at the differences between the offense in the Georgia Tech and Syracuse games versus the Texas A&M and UNC games.

What changes need to be made? What would’ve been the right play-call? How is Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne progressing?

All of these will be things we see Tiger fans do over the course of the bye week.

As you can see, there’s no shortage of things to accomplish during the bye week. How will you be spending your open date, Tiger fans? Comment below!
