Clemson Football: 5 Tigers who impressed vs. Syracuse
2. Isaiah Simmons
You want to talk about an absolute athletic freak who was all over the field? That’s Isaiah Simmons.
Simmons led the Tigers with 11 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks Saturday night. Really, you can only find a couple of plays all night where he was out of position. One of those resulted in a Syracuse first down on a pass near the sidelines, but it’s clear that Simmons will grade out well for his performance in this one.
One of the top plays of the night happened in the third quarter when Simmons blitzed right up the middle and nailed Tommy DeVito on a Fourth Down play. He blitzed several times and created nice pressure but was also able to stop the run and drop back in pass coverage.
His versatility, athleticism and pure physicality are going to earn him a lot of money in next year’s NFL Draft.
