Offensive Guard

When looking at the guards for the Clemson football dream team, you have to realize that there are a ton of options to choose from. There have been several players to be named All-Americans as a guard in the Clemson football program, but these are the two we decided on.

Joe Bostic

First is Joe Bostic. Bostic was the best offensive guard to ever play at Clemson University, as far as statistics go. He was named a first-team All-American twice, once in 1977 and once in 1978.

Bostic was also named the the top blocker in the ACC in 1977 and won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy for the state of South Carolina in both 1977 and 1978.

He went on to be drafted by the Cardinals in the third round and played in the NFL for 10 years, while also being named to the NFL All-Rookie team in 1979.

Jeb Flesch

Jeb Flesch gets the nod at the second offensive guard spot. Flesch was named a first-team All-American in 1991 by the Associated Press, UPI, Football News, and the Walter Camp Foundation.

He was the leader on the offensive line that led Clemson football to an ACC Championship while also leading the conference in total offense. Flesch led the team in knockdowns that season with 72 on the year and had 262 knockdown blocks for his career, just 10 short of the school-record.

Jeb Flesch was reliable and did a great job opening up holes for the Clemson running game. There’s no question he left an impact on the Clemson football program and ended up with a solid career as a Tiger.
