Clemson vs App State: 5 Players to Watch

Jul 9, 2014; Beaverton, OR, USA; Mitch Hyatt (71) gets set for some drills during Nike Football

Mitch Hyatt

Mitch Hyatt is the only returning guy from this list and I can go ahead and tell you he will be on the list next week, as well. Why? He holds the most important spot on the field: Protecting Deshaun Watson’s blindside. Hyatt performed great Saturday, showing a bit of a nasty streak and beating Terrier defenders off the ball.

This week, you want to continue to see him improve. Louisville is going to blitz all night long Thursday, so you want him to have as much experience and preparation as possible to be ready for the next three games. This is his final dress rehearsal. This is his last time to learn what he needs to learn before going on the road for a nationally televised game.

You think this game Saturday is unimportant? This may be one of the most significant games of the season. This is Clemson’s last chance to get guys game experience before hitting the hardest three game stretch of the year. The Tigers have a lot to accomplish and Mitch Hyatt will be instrumental in the team’s development. It will be interesting to see how he performs Saturday and I look for big things out of the freshman left tackle going forward.
