Travis Etienne had a Madden Level run in HS before joining Clemson football

It’s absolutely amazing to think about Travis Etienne’s journey to ultimately ending up with the Clemson football program.

Etienne, at one time, was a Texas A&M commit and wasn’t offered by Clemson until late in the recruiting process. As a matter of fact, the Tigers wouldn’t have ever offered him had it not been for a decommitment late in the cycle that left them scrambling to find a running back to simply fill the class.

Fast-forward just a few years, and Etienne has won a National Championship, been named the ACC Player of the Year in back-to-back season and holds the all-time rushing record for Clemson football. He still has one more year of eligibility left, as well.

An old video clip from Etienne’s high school clip recently resurfaced and it shows just how talented he truly was coming into college.

Travis Etienne is forced to run backwards- which is never a good thing- and tries going both ways- continuing to lose ground- before he ultimately decides to attempt to barrel through a pile of defenders. Well, that’s exactly what happens. After being forced to run back, Etienne barrels through about five would-be tacklers and takes the ball to the house, a play that would make Madden video gamers proud.

The Clemson football program struck gold with Travis Etienne

Hindsight is 20/20. It’s easy to look back at the Clemson football running back and see just how special he has become. It’s easy to go and pull up his high school film now and see the talent and ability.

That being said, one of the major ‘what-ifs’ when we look at Clemson is simply ‘what-if’ things hadn’t worked out with Etienne?

Etienne has turned into potentially the best running back in Clemson football history, but he easily could’ve ended up elsewhere.

Next. Since when did past successes lead to relevancy today?. dark

Tiger fans need to enjoy and appreciate the time left with Etienne in the backfield because there’s no doubt he has been a special talent to watch.
