The 2019 Clemson football regular season will be one-third of the way finished after the Tigers take on the Charlotte 49ers Saturday evening.

The Clemson football team improved to 3-0 on the young season last Saturday when the Tigers defeated the Syracuse Orange 41-6 up in the Carrier Dome.

Before the win over Syracuse, Clemson football defeated Texas A&M 24-10 and Georgia Tech 52-14 in Death Valley.

This week, the Tigers will return home for a match up with the Charlotte 49ers. The Charlotte football program began in 2013 as an FCS Independent. After two years in the FCS ranks, the 49ers joined C-USA at the FBS level. Because the program has only been around for seven years, Clemson and Charlotte have never met on a football field.

The 49ers come into this one with a 2-1 record, with their lone loss coming to Appalachian State. Charlotte will be looking to provide a major upset, but that is certainly unlikely.

As we look at these two teams, the Clemson football program is just more talented and deeper than anything the 49ers can put on the field. Vegas echoes those sentiments, placing a 41.5-point spread in favor of the Tigers heading into the game.

Even though this game will likely not be close, there are still interesting topics, aspects and match ups that Clemson football fans can watch during the game. Here are five storylines to watch in Clemson’s match up with Charlotte Saturday night in Death Valley.
