Clemson football commit Kobe Pryor is a different kind of running back compared to what the Tigers have had in the past, but that’s a good thing.

It’s been quite some time since Clemson football had a running back like Kobe Pryor.

The Tigers have had balanced running backs like Roderick McDowell and Andre Ellington, and they’ve had explosive play-makers like CJ Spiller and Lyn-J Dixon. Of course, there’s Travis Etienne who may be the perfect blend of both worlds.

What Kobe Pryor is, though, is very different from the boxes that you’d put those other running backs in.

Pryor is bruiser back. He’s a guy that can take punishment, and dish it out just as well. He’s more explosive than an Adam Choice or late CJ Fuller, who may come to mind when you’re talking about power backs in the past with Clemson football, and he plays with reckless abandon.

Pryor is going to be the perfect complement to fellow 2019 commit Demarkcus Bowman.

Bowman is an explosive running back who is a threat to take the ball to the house any time he touches it. Pryor is going to be the 3rd down running back who picks up the ugly two yards to keep the drive going.

When Pryor runs the ball, there is a little bit of Nick Chubb in him. He doesn’t quite have the top end speed that Chubb has, but he runs in the same manner with great explosiveness. He’s going to go north-and-south and has no care for defenders standing in his way.

Next. Aidan Swanson to work on consistency. dark

That’s a different kind of running back compared to what the Tigers have had in the past. He’s not going to be the guy that averages 8 yards per carry, but he has the potential to play an important role for Clemson football in the future.
