The Vegas odds for the 2019 National Championship have been updated yet again. Now, Clemson football leads the way in terms of odds.

The updated Vegas odds for the 2019 National Championship have been released and to no one’s surprise, Clemson football is No. 1 on the list.

Depending on which book you look at, the Tigers are either first or second behind Alabama according to every oddsmaker.

Brett McMurphy reported the latest odds on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. Here’s a look at where the Tigers stand.

  • Clemson 2-1
  • Alabama 5-2
  • Georgia, Ohio State 8-1
  • Michigan, Oklahoma 14-1
  • Texas 25-1

Thoughts:

Clemson’s odds to repeat as National Champions is set at 2-to-1. That’s pretty impressive. Alabama comes in second with 5-to-2 odds and then you’ve got Georgia and Ohio State tied for third at 8-to-1.

I understand the love for Ohio State, but I think it would be extremely hard to rank that team No. 4 in the nation when their starting quarterback has yet to play any meaningful snaps.

It’s clear that the pecking order of College Football is staying the same, at least for the time being. It’s Clemson, Alabama in whichever order you want to put them, and then everyone else. Could Georgia, Texas, Ohio State or Oklahoma join that mix? Sure. But right now, it’s the Tigers, Tide and everyone else.

That bodes well for Clemson football, considering the last time the Tigers matched up with the Tide, they beat them by a hefty score of 44-16.

It will be interesting to see how things play out, but I would go ahead and tell you that I don’t see anyone outside Clemson or Alabama winning the 2019 National Championship barring injury.

Perhaps Georgia could make a run and knock off the Tide or maybe a team like Ohio State or Texas gets hot, but if I were placing odds on it, they’d be particularly low.
