Clemson football freshman wide receiver Derion Kendrick has yet to score a touchdown in Tiger career, but it’s coming sooner rather than later.

Clemson football has been blessed with a plethora of talented wide receivers.

This season, analysts have talked in depth about Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Amari Rodgers and Hunter Renfrow.

While all four of those guys are talented wide receivers, there’s another emerging star that has just as much explosive ability as anybody on the Clemson football team. That Tiger is true-freshman Derion Kendrick.

Kendrick has seen increased playing time as the year has progressed. He started out getting a few snaps here and there, but now he is beginning to become more of a focal point in the offense.

Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott are looking for opportunities to get the ball out to Kendrick.

While the freshman hasn’t scored a touchdown yet in his career, I think that all could change when the Tigers take on Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl.

One missed-tackle away…

What I love about Derion Kendrick is the fact that he is just one missed-tackle away from being in the end zone every single time he touches the ball.

He is explosive, athletic and extremely fast. I love his vision and the way he’s able to make something out of nothing.

He’s taken over the kick return duties for the Tigers and has had a few chances to take those for touchdowns, but just hasn’t been able to reel off one yet.

It’s fun to watch him because after almost every run, you can see him get up after being tackled frustrated at himself. He knows that he is just one mistake away from a touchdown and I think we will see Kendrick become an intricate part of the offensive game plan against Notre Dame.

What he’s able to do is spread the field. You throw that little jet sweep pass to him and that makes the opposing defense spread out. It opens up the run up the middle, but it can also be a very deadly play if ran effectively.

I’m looking for Derion Kendrick to bust off a big run against the Irish and pick up his first touchdown of his career when the Tigers take on Notre Dame in just a couple of weeks.
