Would Clemson football be in favor of an expanded CFB Playoff? In the long-term, that’s certainly what seems as if it’s going to happen.

Expansion is coming to the College Football Playoff at some point in the future.

It could be in the next few years, it could be when the contract for the current system runs out or it could be 30 years from now.

But, at some point, I tend to think we’re going to see expansion in the College Football Playoff.

Even with a group of players beginning to sit out bowl games, I think there’s going to be a great chance that we see the system change to allow more teams in the playoff to make games seem more important for a greater amount of programs.

Expansion to eight?

If you expanded to eight teams, that would be the perfect amount, in my opinion. There are a lot of people that want to see the playoff go to 16, but I think that’s just too many. In my opinion, you take a game off the regular season or get rid of the conference championship games.

That would allow for the same amount of games to be played with an extra playoff game.

The Power-Five conference champions get an automatic bid. After that, you get three wildcards. I think there should be a system of rules in place that could allow a Group of Five team in the playoff and all you use the committee for is seeding and to figure out the wildcards.

Favorable for Clemson football?

Right now, I would say no. Why would Clemson or Alabama want to play an extra game to win the National Championship?

But, in the future, it would be nice to have a way into the playoff automatically. All you have to do is win your conference. You don’t have to worry about impressing a committee, but just winning the conference.
