Is the game against NC State this Saturday the toughest remaining game on the 2018 Clemson football regular season schedule?

The Clemson football team had a bye this past Saturday, but now will focus on the NC State Wolfpack in a game that may very well decide the ACC Atlantic.

Both the Tigers (6-0) and the Wolfpack (5-0) are undefeated coming into the game, which will be a battle of top-20 teams.

This game, in my opinion, is the toughest test remaining for the Tigers in their trek to the College Football Playoff.

Early Thoughts:

Sometimes a team just matches up well.

I’m not sure how NC State matches up with Clemson as far as their defense is concerned. The Wolfpack lost a ton of leaders off of last year’s team.

But, on offense, NC State may be as good as any team that the Tigers will face the rest of the way.

The Wolfpack are led by veteran quarterback Ryan Finley and a plethora of talented wide receivers. This will be the best passing attack that Clemson will face the rest of the season.

That just doesn’t sound good when you think about the one perceived weakness of Clemson football’s defense.

I’m really interested to see Finley and that wide receiver corp match up with the Tigers’ secondary. It should be a really good test to see just how much that unit has- or hasn’t- improved.

Looking at the rest of the schedule, perhaps the toughest games other than NC State are on the road at Boston College and then maybe Duke at home.

Next. Trevor Lawrence's midseason stats are unreal. dark

The truth is that the Tigers outmatch every single team that they play the rest of the season and the toughest match up is going to be against the Wolfpack this Saturday. A loss could be detrimental. The Tigers’ College Football Playoff and ACC Atlantic Division hopes rest in winning this game.

It’s going to be a big one in Death Valley just seven days from now.
