Nolan Turner (S) Vestavia Hills, Alabama:

Nolan Turner is the son of the late Kevin Turner, former star fullback at Alabama. Turner went under the radar coming out of high school, garnering no more than two stars on any of the major recruiting websites (rivals, ESPN, 247sports).

I think it was smart on the part of Dabo Swinney to offer Turner, he is a tough football player from a strong lineage.

Best Attributes:

Nolan Turner has a great feel for the game, as could be expected from a former NFL players son. Turner played on both sides for Vestavia Hills high school, which speaks to his athleticism. The most impressive aspect of Turner’s game is his physicality. Turner is a down hill player, he shows great awareness and closing speed in run support. On film, Turner is seen delivering multiple bone crushing hits.

Being the son of a football player helped Turner develop a high football IQ. On film he is rarely out of place and nothing ever gets behind him. As a safety it is important to stay in your back pedal and trust your eyes, Turner does both of those things exceptionally well.

Expectations:

The Clemson football program is predicated on toughness and Nolan Turner brings exactly that to the table. Turner will be in contention for playing time this fall, because of the departure of senior safety Jadar Johnson. I do not expect Turner to start for Clemson, mainly because of the other talent that Clemson has at safety such as Tanner Muse, Isaiah Simmons, and K’Von Wallace.
