Clemson Set To Take On Miami In ACC Tournament Clash

The Miami Hurricanes were one of the best teams in the country this year, let alone in the ACC. But as they say, the regular season means nothing once you get to the playoffs. The postseason for the Hurricanes began with a stinging loss to Georiga Tech 6-3, just hours after Clemson had downed Duke 5-3 in Greensboro, NC.

The fifth seeded Tigers (35-22) are now poised to take on top seeded Miami (40-17) Thursday night in a game that could have huge implications going forward. Depending on the result of the Georgia Tech-Duke game this afternoon, Clemson could be in the driver’s seat with a win tonight over the Hurricanes. If the Yellow Jackets lose today, and Clemson wins, the Tigers will enter Friday’s game with a chance to go a perfect 3-0 in their pool.

First thing’s first, though, as Clemson needs to take care of business tonight against a very strong Miami ball club. The Hurricanes swept the Tigers in Clemson in the schools’ only 3 meetings of the year.

Clemson will send RHP Daniel Gossett (7-1) to the mound against LHP Chris Diaz (9-0) in what should be a vicious pitchers’ duel. First pitch is scheduled for 7 pm.
